What's happening? Not much, I just take it SO easy and don't even touch a tool. I did have time to wash the car, though. Of course i had to wash it twice because of all the pollen that rained down during the night. And I have found out what's making all the noise in the front susp/subframe: One of the shocks is loose inside the strut. VERY FUNNY! Gotta tear the shit apart and fix it, or perhaps take a trip to the ones who got paid to do the job in the first place, because I don't have the best of tools to fix it with...

Some small stuff fixed this weekend. top mouts exchanged, inner arch liners were mounted and some other things was done. On the friday I ewnt to Karlskrona for the state inspection. Result: OK!
The saturday started with a breakfast at Erik/QTD in pataholm, then we went of to Emmaboda where the car was shown at its full glory! Now I'm home again and the car is enjoying the sunshine outside...

At last I got to drive the prornomobile again...it rocks! The weekend began on thursday, we threw the last of the parts into the engine bay and got the front parts back in its places. Of course something messed up... The crank pulley had been balanced a bit to hard so the crank locking tool just said "crack" when I tightened the crank pulley bolt. After a phonecall and 30mins later Erik from QTD comes and looks at the problem, makes a phonecall and disappears again. After an hour more he is back with a special made tool that works perfectly. Now that's what i call serviceminded! great! In the evening we were going to start the engine but nothing happens. we move a connector on it and everyhing goes black when the key is turned. Uh-oh. Fortunately it was only the battery that was dead.
After some sleep the friday started with stealing a new battery from the yellow urquattro. Then we turned the key again and...the car didn't start! Fuel is pumping but no ignition. Whilst we are thinking we were about to get the bumper in place but no... the car leaks coolant. We just have to dismount half of the car to get to the water pump which is leaking. A thicker o-ring gasket solves the problem and when the front radiator is already away i got nicer one from RS-Mange. The whole rest of the day we searched for the error that made the engine dead, but no luck .
The saturday begins with Zap and Bbx going to Erik to lend the VAG1552 tool so we could read out some fault codes (didn't i say serviceminded? ). After some research made by Zap, Bbx and Tacq the error was located to a wrongly mounted distrubutor. Who could have known... In the evening the car started with a helluva knock from the hydraulic lifters, nervous! When it got some normal working temp the oil got thinner and the lifters got some oil into them. No sound at all after that! The engine sounds fantastic! We went out for a small test ride after bleeding the cooling system. We drove for about one hundred meters before something died... No, not the car, but a hedgehog that crossed the road! Oops...
I drove some more on the sunday and i must say that the car runs great! After 40-50km the oil was drained and replaced with some new Motul oil. Some small stuff like side turn signals, window washers and onter things was fixed before it was time to go home.

At last I've gotten some sleep... I started the weekend by getting some hoses and some more jubilee clips(already bought approx. a hundred). On the saturday it was "as usual", a trip to kalmar! When I got there we started to mount the engine mounts and some hoses, then continued to put the cylinder head together when it arrived to the garage, and before the day was over the head was thrown onto the engine. On the sunday we fastened the head and the exhaust manifold, turbo, wastegate and cam cover etc. were mounted. In the afternoon we tried to lift the engine into the car, but no luck... Something didn't work so I had to go home before the engine was fitted. later it showed that a guiding pin was monted on the block and also on the gearbox... Oups, that happens when you exchange the engine block. Anyway, the engine is in place now!

Uuuhh... Tired after a weekend full of work... Kalmar - engine building - sleeping- building - going home - giong to work...and soon sleep again. The cylinder head hasn't arrived yet but there were loads of stuff to do anyway. Parts beeing washed, the oil seals for the crank were replaced and some other things was done to the block on the saturday. On the saturday evening I and Zaphod went to meet Erik/QTD and pick up some cams, my crank and the other stuff that has been away for balancing...and of course a few bags of various Motul products, as usual... Later in the eveting RS-Mange showed up so we took a trip to the garage, and just happened to mount my crankshaft, half an hour before midnight...
During the sunday we finished the crank mounting, threw some pistons onto the rods and threw it all into the block! It starts to look like an engine again...

Change of plans? Well, of course... The bores on the engine block that i layed so much work on were really badly stepped so well...we found another one and bought it. Cheap! An'd we didn't get an empty block, no... Crank, rods, pistons, oil pan etc. were included! It looks like all my parts are going to arrive to kalmar before the weekend, so toworrow i will go down there for some serious engine building!

Been in kalmar again, this time to get the engine block a bit prettyer. After a couple of hours polishing work it got a bucket of paint over it.
Some other things happened the past week: The block has been honed, The head, crank cams and inlet manifold are away for some work.. And one more thing, i untightened the bolt that was stuck in the AC compressor!

Things starts to move! last friday I went down to kalmar for some easter-mechanics, after some transport problems... Before the day came to an end the engine were in the engine stand! It went pretty smooth, apart from some bolts that cracked, and a snub mount that was a pain in the ass to get loose... On the saturday everything was cleaned and taken apart. Inlet manifold, Exhaust manifold, turbo, head, cams, pistons, rods, crank, EVERYTHING was taken apart. The head will be sent to GTM for a rebuild and a port job, the crank with the new rods will go to ENEM for balancing and the cams will have a slight modification... By the way the inlet manifold will get some modifying aswell. Hmm, I guess I'll better go to sleep now...

The car now is resting on Tacq's backyard in kalmar. Believe it or not, it didn't fall off the trailer one single time! This friday I will go down there and start to split the engine.

Lots of parts have arrived from QTD, there's loads of crap that's going to be put into the engine. The more boring part is that I also got a looooong invoice. Tomorrow the car will be loaded on a trailer and driven to kalmar where the engine will be rebuilt. I hope it works out fine... Today I went to Biltema and bought a engine stand, I guess that it could be useful... After the Easter the engine will be put in that istead of in the car anyway.
